A MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN

I am honored to be celebrating the 11th anniversary of the Bolting Symposium. The event was founded based on market feedback for a place to communicate ideas. After years of realizing the industry had the same questions, the Symposium was formed to provide a platform for everyone to get together and talk.

Throughout my career, I have led the charge in making sure industry professionals are knowledgeable and aware of bolting guidelines and best practices. As Chair of ASME PCC-1, I am leading the push to create and implement standards for bolted flange joint assemblies. During my career I have been able to assist OEMs, end users, and the industry in providing the training necessary to understand bolting in relation to industrial systems. Training and education is the best way to ensure that your equipment reaches peak performance – knowledge and understanding of the equipment is vital to extending the life of your assets, troubleshooting issues and improving processes.

Getting the leaders together who make the rules is what this event is really about. Since the first event, it has grown from a private event into the larger success it is today. The goal now is to get more people in the industry to attend, and understand more facets of bolting. Bolted flange joints are everywhere in the industrial world – it affects refining, petrochemical, downstream, upstream, midstream, plastic plants, power generation, and several other industries.

The goal of the Symposium has always been to host highly technical presentations, and share insight on how to apply this knowledge to a bolting program. The people that would benefit the most from this event are the subject matter experts, and anyone who is trying to become one. I look forward to seeing you there!
